Santa Claus wears a red robe and hat and carries a small Christmas tree decorated with lit candles in his left hand and a bag full of toys in his right hand over his right shoulder. He watches the sleeping girl who wears a long white nightgown and has curly golden hair. She has a green pillow under her and rests her arms and head on an arm of the chair. His legs are not seen as they disappear in the flames and smoke from the fire. A girl stands in front of the fireplace reaching up to receive the Christmas tree. She has short, curly, golden hair and wears a long-sleeved, white nightgown and is barefoot. Above the bag of toys over Santa Claus' back it reads "A Merry Christmas" in gold script.
