The ground in front of the dugout is cleared of trees, but the trees surround the sides and the back of the dugout. There is an Allied solder sitting on a bench and looking towards the photographer. He is wearing his cap and uniform, as well as a long coat that covers his knees. His left leg is extended forward and his right is bent. There is a door that leads into the dugout, which enters into the German bunkers. Outside of the dugout is a stone wall. Above the doorway is a plethora of small branches that are lined up together and there is a diamond shape to the work.
